FAQ's


What type of counseling support is offered remotely?


Counseling support is provided via tele-interventions which includes but is not limited to worksheets, videos, audio and independent tasks. Students can also check in with the counselor by schedule an appointment or during office hours.


My child is in the 8th grade and will need help applying for high schools. Will he/she receive support with that?


Yes, Dr. Mclean will be meeting with all 8th grade students during homeroom to review high school requirements, assist with high school applications and interview prep. Additionally, meetings will be scheduled with each parent/student to make high school selections.


If my child receives counseling as a related service in their IEP how will counseling be implemented?


Counseling services are implemented via tele-interventions which includes the use of email and Microsoft teams.


Does Alliance provide any support for children who need mental health services outside of school?


Yes, if any parent would like support with how to get connected with a mental health agency please email Dr. Mclean to discussed our Student Assistance Program.


What support can you provide for families dealing with difficulties due to COVID-19?


Tips and resources will be available on this website and also sent on a regular basis via Plus Portal, Text alerts and Student Dojo.


Do you have any resources I can use at home to support my child(ren)?


Yes, under the activities tab are different social emotional learning activities that can be done at home. You will also receive parent communication based off our social emotional learning monthly themes.


What grades do you support?


We have counseling support for grades K-8. I support with grades 6-8 for school counseling and K-8 for general support. For school counseling for a child in grades K-5 please contact Mrs. Steffy at tsteffy@afpcs.org.


My child is in the 7th grade will he/she be taking PSSAs to qualify them for high school admittance?


As of now, we have not heard anything from the Department of Education about PSSA testing for 2021.
